DESCRIPTION:  \nSave this weekend for a gathering of canal boats with entertainment\, food and drink\, to mark the 200th anniversary of the official opening of the Goole to Knottingley canal and the port and town of Goole. Boat owners are invited to register\, using our expression of interest form\, to participate in a flotilla of vessels which is planned to process around Goole docks on the afternoon of 18 July\, watched by the public and reviewed by a  group of VIPs.

SUMMARY:Guided heritage canal trips on Tilly
DESCRIPTION:As part of the Waterways Heritage Festival we are delighted to announce that the Tilly Community Canal Boat\, operated by  HFR Solutions CIC\, will be visiting Goole to take part in our Flotilla Event on Saturday 18 July\, 2026. \nTilly is a 60ft long trip boat which is licenced to carry twelve passengers. Outside of her participation in the flotilla\, short canal trips will be offered on the morning of Saturday 18 July and throughout the day on Sunday 19 July. Tickets will be going on sale later and we will point you to the booking website once that is open to the public. \nEach trip will be hosted by a YWHS guide who will narrate the story of the Knottingley to Goole canal and the port of Goole over its two hundred years history from 1826 to the present day. \nPassengers will board at Spicers Auctioneers\, the site of the former Yorkshire Waterways Museum\, by the canal in Goole and trips will last approximately one hour. \n  \n

SUMMARY:Presentation to Annual General Meeting of Goole GoFar
DESCRIPTION:Presentation: Goole in 1926 – Celebrating the first 100 years. \nLooking back over one hundred years\, we explore what was happening in and around Goole in 1926\, the year of the centenary of the opening of the town and docks in 1826. Despite the economic depression hitting so many of the townspeople hard\, a fabulous celebration of the 100th birthday was organised and delivered with admirable enthusiasm as can be seen from the many surviving photographs. Through newspaper reports\, we examine the combined efforts of the many committees as they prepared to deliver a spectacle which would be reported as a tremendous success across the country.  \nThe organisers have requested that you please arrive NO EARLIER than 10.00. Refreshments will be available on arrival\, and a light Buffett Lunch will be served after the meeting at 12.00pm.
