Expression of interest

2026 will see the 200th anniversary of the opening of the port of Goole and the Knottingley to Goole Canal. 

Yorkshire Waterways Heritage Society is among a group of community organisations working towards marking the bicentenary in a grand manner. In particular, we are hoping to run a floating event over the weekend of Friday 17 July to Sunday 19 July 2026.

As part of that event, mirroring the activities which marked the opening two hundred years ago, we plan to organise a flotilla of waterways’ vessels which will navigate around Goole  docks on the Saturday, under the watchful eyes of a VIP loaded review stand with members of the public positioned at viewing points around the docks.

We are anticipating that attendees from the boating community will also want to get involved in a range of entertainments on the evenings over the weekend.
